University of Tampere was formerly the Civic College, specialised in journalism, established in Helsinki, Finland in 1925. In 1960, it was relocated in Tampere city, the third largest city in Finland and was renamed the University of Tampere. It was then invested on academic size and diversified in majors, with 9 affiliate schools. In the presence, the University of Tampere has become one of the leading  universities in Finland, or more than that, turned into the most prestigious university in the country on social and managerial post-gradute education. The University of Tampere is one of the leading research centers in the Europe with top-quality research achievements in informatics, journalism, communication, management, social sciences and health. About its ranking, the University of Tampere holds the position of 350 among top universities on the world, also in the top of 150 best universities in the Europe. Especially in the ranking of scientific research, it takes the 20th position among European universities.
